Aprilia is going to launch its Maxi-scooter in the Indian market, to strengthen its line-up. Aprilia SXR going to be the most powerful scooter in their segment. The bookings for SXR started today and the deliveries will be starting soon, rumored to be the end of this month. The new scooter entered the Piaggio production plant in Baramati a few weeks ago. The bookings are accepted at Piaggio dealerships as well as on online platforms across India. MD and CEO of Piaggio said that “prices for Aprilia SXR will be announced before the end of month and deliveries of maxi-scooter will begin this month itself.
The Aprilia SXR was first seen at this year’s Auto Expo and expected to launch in mid-2020. But the circumstances were not in favor of any automakers so the launch of the maxi-scooter to be delayed. In a virtual press-conference Diego graffi MD of Piaggio said that the” Indian market has great potential for max-scooters of 200cc-250cc space”, and 160 SXR will be a way to see if the given statement stands to be true. The Aprilia SXR powered with a 160cc 3 valve, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine, the same as the engine used in SR160. The motor produces 10.84 HP of maximum power and 11.6 Nm of peak torque.
The SXR comes equipped with features like LED lightening, smartphone connectivity, USB charging port, LCD instrument cluster, and feather touch switches. Its features list also consists of 12-inch alloy wheels, ABS, and under-seat storage. The suspension duties are performed with the help of a telescopic front fork, and adjustable shock absorbers, and braking duties performed by ventilated disc brakes with twin pot calipers.
