 Simple energy a few days ago announced their first-ever electric scooter launch in India, on Independence Day 15th August 2021. Codenamed Mark2, it will be a long-range electric scooter planned by the Bengaluru-based company, claimed that they already prepared a prototype of the Mark1 version last year itself. Instead, of launching the version first the brand has gone towards using that prototype to develop a more advanced electric scooter with long-range.

Some of the key features of Mark2 are a touchscreen display with navigation, phone connectivity, Bluetooth, and so on. While Simple energy Mark2 will costs from Rs 1.10 lakh to Rs 1.20 lakh according to firm ex-showroom. Initially, the electric scooter will be produced from Bengaluru city as research and development facilities are located there, and will expand their reach in the coming future to more cities in India as well as in global markets. Speaking on announcement CEO simple energy, Ushas Rajkumar said, “we are thrilled to announce the launch date, 15 august is a milestone for the nation, simple energy will make history with a world-class product made by an Indian company”.  

As for performance AMrk2 comes equipped with a 4.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which is capable enough to generate 240 km of riding the range on a single full charge in the Eco mode and has a top speed of 100 Kmph. The firm further claims that the Scooter can go from 0 to 50 kmph in just 3.6 seconds. If this turns out to be the case then it is an extremely good specification for a market like India, in this price band. The company will raise A funding of 15 million USD in the 3rd quarter of this year and the charging stations will be set up in Bengaluru.
