BMW India is a subsidiary of the German Automobile manufacturer Bayerische Motoren Werke AG also known as BMW AG. The company was founded in 1916 as Aircraft Engine manufacturer and later started automobile manufacturing in 1928. Headquartered in Munich, Germany and this company is known for producing Luxury cars and motorcycles. BMW also has many subsidiaries and sells vehicles under the brands of BMW, Mini and Rolls Royce while the motorcycles are branded under the name BMW Motorrad. All these brands produce luxury and premium vehicles only and their reputation in the global market is well known. It is well spread globally and also produces vehicles in Germany, Brazil, India, South Africa, China, United Kingdom, United States and the Mexico.

BMW entered Indian market in January 2006 and started their operation in 2007. It is headquartered in Chennai and also have a manufacturing plant in the same state. This plant manufactures many of their vehicles line-up to be sold domestically as well as internationally. Under this plant, vehicles under brand name Mini are also manufactured. They have more than 35 dealerships spread across 19 states in India. The company also has a training centre in Gurugram, Haryana.
BMW has a line-up of 28 vehicles in the global market with two electric vehicles and hybrids as well. However, 21 models out of these are available in the Indian market. Also, 11 models sold in India are produced in Chennai plant. The Indian models of the cars consists of coupes, sedans, Crossover SUVs, SUVs, convertible, limousines and sports cars. The sedans and coupes are categorised under the series as 2 series, 3 series, 5 series, 7 series, 8 series, X series, GT. While the X series consists of crossovers and SUVs and Z series has the convertible cars. Moreover, the M series of the Line-up is the high-performance vehicles upgraded from the other series. These are the sportier powerful and provide better performance as well.
