Volkswagen is well known for its sedan and premium hatchback cars but due to the shift of the global trend towards the SUV segment, Volkswagen has been concentrating on expanding its SUV and crossover lineup. Riding this bandwagon company has unveiled its new full size 7-seater SUV the Volkswagen Talagon in China in collaboration with FAW.
The new Volkswagen Talagon is 5,152 mm in length, 2,002 mm in width and 1,795 mm in height with a wide wheelbase of 2,980mm which will be providing ample leg space for all passengers. Taking about the design of Talagon which quite resembles its earlier counterpart the Volkswagen Teramont with subtle changes like a black honeycomb mesh grille with three chrome strips connecting to both the headlamp setup and a VW logo at the centre, a sporty bumper with fog lamp housings, a sleek lower grille and a faux silver skid plate.
For the side, the car gets features like chrome lining at the upper edge of the windows, sloping roof rails, large dual-tone 18-inch alloy wheels and side body cladding. For the rear the car gets a unique design with a wrapped around taillights, high stop lamp, shark fin antenna, twin exhaust with chrome tip and a rear silver coloured skid plate.
As of the performance, it will be getting the same powertrain option as of the Volkswagen Teramont which is a 2.0 litre four cylinder TSI petrol engine which is capable of producing an optimum power of 186 hp and a max torque up to 350 Nm, coupled with an 8 speed manual or automatic gearbox. Although, the car may resemble the Teramont is engine specs but the Talagon won’t be getting the 2.5 litre VR6 engine that is available in the Volkswagen Teramont.
Talking about its rivals, the will be competing against the like of all the premium SUV is the same price range.
