2021 Mahindra Scorpio – 5 things to know before launch

Mahindra Scorpio has been on sale for just under two decades has been on demand pretty much since then, the Scorpio first made its debut back in 2002 and since then it hasn’t got any update to it, neither in the feature segment nor in the design, the car is long overdue in the generation update department. However, the carmaker feels the same too and the new generation of the Mahindra Scorpio has been spied a number of times in camouflage near its testing centre in Tamil Nadu. Although no official announcement has been made in regards to that, these spy shots have helped us cumulate a list of 5 things to know before the launch of 2021 Mahindra Scorpio.

  1. Platform

The new 2021 Mahindra Scorpio will be built on the same platform as the on-going 2nd generation Mahindra Thar, which is a modified version of body-on-ladder frame. This will not only increase the performance of the car but also make the car become a better off-roader.

  1. External design

The new Scorpio will be undergoing some major changes, as the ongoing Scorpio feel quite outdated compared to its rivals. Talking about some change which might be happening is – the new headlamp setup that will be consisting of projector headlamps and new LED DRLs, a new and wider bumper and a new grille for the front. The size of the car is also getting increased both in terms of length and width.

  1. Interior design

The interior of the car will also be getting a major upgrade, like the dashboard and all its components will get a major revamp, the instrument cluster and the infotainment system will not be digitalized and will be touchscreen. The upholstery will also be renewed.

  1. Engine specifications

As for the engine specifications, the new Scorpio will be having the same engine setup as the Thar, which are options of either a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine or a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that will be fine-tuned according to the new 2021 Mahindra Scorpio.

  1. Rivals

The car most likely will be priced between Rs. 11 lakh to Rs. 18 lakh which will put the new Scorpio in the category of some of the best-selling SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier and many more in the segment.
