Mercedes-Benz today announced the launch of its A-Class Limousine for the Indian market with a starting price of Rs 39.90 for the base A200 variant, while the other two variants the A200d priced at Rs. 40.90 lakh and the top variant AMG A35 4Matic is priced at 56.24 lakh. However, the car was first introduced in 2018 in the global market and then took 3 years to arrive in India, although the car was first seen in India at the 2020 Auto Expo and was scheduled to be launched last year, but due to the obvious reasons the launched got pushed back a year. And an interesting fact about the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine AMG A35 4Matic is that the car is the company’s second locally produced AMG car and the specs on the sheet look pretty good for it.
Talking about the design of the car, the A-class limousine gives an elegant vibe with its smooth front facia which comprises of a wide blacked out hexagonal grille with a Mercedes-Benz signature chrome three-point star at its centre, long stretched-out headlamps with an L-shaped LED DRL housed inside it, and a wide blacked-out central air inlet on the bumper. However, there are many changes to these design features if you choose the AMG 4Matic top variant which will include some additional features like a better bumper design, more aerodynamic design with additional vents and rear diffusers.
for the powertrain options, the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine comes with 3 options where the base A200 variant gets the 1.3-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, capable of producing a max power output of 161hp and a max torque output of 250Nm, which comes mated with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The A200d variant comes with a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine, capable of producing a max power output of 147hp and max torque output of 320Nm, which comes mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The AMG 4Matic variant gets a more powerful 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing a power output of 302hp and max torque output of 400Nm.
