2021 Skoda Kodiaq Facelift Unveiled

Skoda has finally unveiled its long-awaited facelift of its SUV 2021 Skoda Kodiaq, which be going on sale starting this July in Europe before reaching the domestic market. The new Kodiaq gets tons of new interior and exterior changes and a major feature upgrade.

Talking about the design the new Kodiaq looks more premium and up to date unlike its predecessor, and for the changes, the new 2021-Skoda Kodiaq get a slightly tweaked front hexagonal grille, a new set of headlamps with LED DRLs, new alloy wheels, crystalline LED taillamps which looks seamless than before, and a slightly reprofiled bumper.

For the interior, the car gets some rather interesting materials like the new Eco seats which are made using recycled vegetable material, and simple yet luxurious stuff like optional ergonomic seats with massage and heating function, LED ambient lighting, a 10-speaker Canton sound system, a large 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 10.25-inch touchscreen fully-digital instrument cluster.

The new 2021-Skoda Kodiaq comes in a variety of 3 models, the RS model, L&K and the Sportline model. Starting from the standard RS variant which comes with a comparatively lighter engine and to be precise a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine, that can produce up to 245 hp and is mated with a 7-speed DSG, this engine is identical to the engine also introduced in the Skoda Octavia RS. However, the domestic version of the Kodiaq will get a smaller 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine, producing an output of 150 hp, coupled with a 6-speed MT gearbox.

A 2.0-litre Evo TDI will also be available for the car with options of two power outputs (150hp and 200hp). With the domestic launch of this car, which is planned later this year (as mentioned by the Director of sales, services and marketing Mr Zac Hollis), however, before this launch in India, two other launches are planned ahead by the company which will be the launch concerning the new Skoda Octavia and the Indian market-oriented Skoda Kushaq.

Talking about its rivals, the new Kodiaq will be locking horns with the new Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, VW Tiguan Allspace and MG Gloster.
