Skoda Auto motors showcased their concept SUV at the 2020 Auto expo in India. Currently, Crenzh republic automaker has no SUV in the domestic market for the buyers, as Kodiaq was not been upgraded according to BS6 norms and, Karoq was recently taken off from the Website. The showcased SUV was named VISION IN but it has been changed to Kushaq. Kushaq will be unveiled next month globally. Although, the brand hasn’t released any information about the SUV. That being said, a lot of leaked information about the Kushaq is already available with us to list out some of the top things about the SUV: –
- First car to be launched under Volkswagen India 2.0
A few years back in 2018, Volkswagen Group announced a strategy to develop cars, especially for the Indian markets. The strategy named India 2.0 and the Kushaq will be the first car to be launched as a part of it.
At the Auto Expo 2020, the brand showcased the SUV named VISION IN, but later on changes it into Kushaq. The word derived from Sanskrit literature ‘Kushak’. Although, Skoda has changed the ‘q’ to ‘k’ because the brand has named their previous SUV’s name starting from K and end with q, for example – Kodiaq, Karoq, Kamiq: all have been successful products for the brand and hence, decided to start the trend.
- Design elements
The Design and looks of Kushaq still uncovered, as we have some images of the SUV, courtesy of Auto Expo 2020. That being said the SUV will have two-piece LED headlamps along with integrated LED DRLs, at front Skoda’s iconic Butterfly griller, at rear SUV could have sporty ‘SKODA’ lettering instead of brand’s logo, along with functional roof rails and large 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
The Kushaq will be based on MQB A0 IN platform sourced from the Volkswagen group, and the first Indian vehicle to build on this platform. Although, more future products from Skoda and Volkswagen will be built on this platform, like the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan which will be sharing underpinnings along Kushaq.
Kushaq entry-level trim will be offered in a 1.0 liter 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which is capable enough to develop 110 PS of power and 175 Nm of torque, same as seen in Skoda Sedan Rapid. For the higher trims, it will be featuring a 1.5 liter 4-cylinder TSI Turbo petrol engine, that belts out 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque.
Skoda confirmed that recently that the smaller trims of Kushaq offered a 6-speed manual as well as a 6-speed torque convertor. While the higher trims offer will feature 7-DSG, also the bigger engines will be featured with 6-speed manual transmissions well.
On the feature list, the Kushaq likely to equipped with a large 11.4-inch large infotainment that supports apple car play, android auto, connected car technology, a massive 10.25-inch instrument cluster, electric sunroof, automatic climate control, and so on.
- Safety equipment’s
Kushaq features 6-airbags, along with ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child mounting, Hill descent assist, Hill hold, ESC, tire pressure monitoring, front and rear sensors, rearview camera. Also, confirmed by Skoda ESC will be standard with every trim.
- Launch and expected price
The Skoda Kushaq SUV will make its global debut on 18th March 2021. That said, the car will be reached domestic showrooms near about June 2021. Although, the official launch date is yet to confirmed by the Brand.
