Ford has broken cover off their first-ever electric pick-up truck F-150 lightning, and the bookings have already started in the United States of America. F-150 lightning is priced from USD 40,000 for the base variant, which goes up to USD 90,000 for the top-end trim (ex-showroom, before taxes). Ford F-150 lightning will be offered with two battery packs and the extended battery on a full charge can power up your home for three full days. The extended range variant equipped with trim enables 563 HP from the dual electric motors, besides having a claimed range of 483 km in a single charge.
Ford F-150 lightning can sprit from 0 to 98 Mph in just 4.5 seconds, which is an excellent number, while the standard battery pack has a maximum power of 426 HP and has a 370 Km of driving range. Although, the exact specifications haven’t been revealed yet, but the extended battery pack is the biggest in the blue oval has ever offered and F-150 lightning is the first in F-series to get the independent rear suspension for better handling and comfort. The towing capacity of the truck is 4536 kilograms and the payload capacity of the truck is 910 kg.
The Ford F-150 lightning comes with different charging AC options depending upon the selected variants. The standard battery gets an 11.2 KW unit and optional 48A house charger, while the bigger pack gets the dual charger up to 19.2 KW. The 48A charger charges the battery from15 to 100 per cent in 10 hours and the extended battery pack dual charger plugs in the 80A house charger. It can charge up from 15 to 100 per cent in around 8hours and DC 150KW fast charger reduces the time to 45 minutes from 15 to 80 per cent.
