Hyundai the second biggest automobile producer in India announced yesterday that December sales of Hyundai went up by 25%. 2020 was the year for the company where we saw many big names from the Hyundai lineup getting upgrades or facelifts. Amongst these names were i20 which got its third-generation model, Creta which also got its 2020 variant, and the new Hyundai Aura which was launched earlier last year in January 2020.
In January 2020 Hyundai Aura was launched that replace the Hyundai Xcent in the sub-4-meter sedan segment and has been performing quite decently through ought the year. Next in the mid-year came the previous king of mid-sized SUV the Hyundai Creta which was dethroned by its cousin Kia Seltos. But after the 2020 Creta launch, the thrown once again got back to its original owner. With the new feature upgrades, a redesigned look, and a panoramic sunroof the new Creta has even regained its position in not only the best-selling mid-size SUV but also in the top 5 selling cars of each month. Later in 2020 came the Hyundai i20 3rd generation which is still performing pretty well.
Detail about December sales of Hyundai
In the last month of the year, December sales of Hyundai went up 25% YoY growth which is a jump from 47,400 units sold in 2020 from 37,953 units sold in 2019. Although, this sales number is somewhat less than the November sales of 2020 which was 48,800 units. However, the sales when compared to the 3rd position holder Tata motors is about twice the number and thrice when compared to Mahindra. When compared to Maruti sales Hyundai is not even half of it.
For now, Hyundai enjoys a lineup of 11 cars comprising of Santro, Grand i10, Grand i10 Nios, i20, Aura, Venue, Creta, Verna, Tucson, Kona Electric, and Elantra. Amongst them Grand i10 Nios, Creta, and i20 are having the highest selling units
