Mahindra XUV300 beat Ford EcoSport by 324 units in April 2021 sales

Mahindra’s best-selling SUV XUV300 beat its biggest rival Ford best-selling model EcoSport by 324 units in April 2021.

  • Mahindra dispatches 4,144 units of XUV300 in April 2021
  • Ford registered only 3,820 units of EcoSport last month
  • Mahindra Retails XUV300 at a base price of Rs 7.95 lakh and Ford retails EcoSport at Rs 8.19 lakh  

Mahindra XUV300 the best-selling model from the homegrown brand Indian line-up, as it sold 4,144 units in April 2021 and outsold its biggest rival in India the American SUV EcoSport. Mahindra XUV300 is the only compact SUV in India that manages to get the adult occupant 5-star safety rating at the Global NCAP crash test in last year Feb 2020. Till now no vehicle can outperform the XUV300 crash test over getting even close to that other than tata Nexon which gets 4-star in adult occupant safety rating. While safety is being of the most important point for the buyers in India in recent times.

Last month, Mahindra XUV300 emerged out as the second best-selling car from the brand line-up in India. Although, XUV300 also manages to outperform its biggest rival Ford EcoSport with 324 units last month, as it only manages to sell 3,820 units. Recently, the joint venture between Mahindra and Ford has been called off due to some financial issues. That being said, Ford was previously touted to source engines from Mahindra for their SUVs including EcoSport and upcoming Territory-inspired SUV.

As for performance Ford EcoSport offered – 1.5 Litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, which rated at 123PS/149Nm, and a 1.5 Litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, which rated at 100PS/215Nm. The powertrain paired with a standard 5-speed manual gearbox system and petrol engine gets an optional 6-speed torque convertor AT. While XUV300 offered with a 1.2 Litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.5 Litre diesel engine, the former belts out 110PS/200Nm and the latter develops 117PS/300Nm. The powertrain comes coupled with 6-speed MT as a standard and an optional 6-Speed AMT gearbox system. XUV300 comes priced between Rs 7.95  lakh to Rs 13.09 lakh, while EcoSport between Rs 8.19 lakh to Rs 11.69 lakh ex-showroom.
