Nissan India May 2021 sales analysis – Magnite, Kicks

Nissan Motor India has unveiled their sales volume data for the month of May 2021 and registered a three-digit sales growth on a YOY basis.

Nissan Motor India has revealed the monthly sales data for the month of May 2021, in which the manufacturer stands with 1,235 units as against 378 units during the same corresponding month last year. While it should also be noted that last year due to pandemic and health crisis the sales figures for almost every manufacturer are affected. Last year, almost every state across India having a varying degree of lockdown. While compared on a YOY basis the manufacturer registered a three-digit positive sales growth of 227 percent.

However, if we compared this last month’s sales data on a MOM basis, the brand registered negative sales growth of 63 percent as 3,369 units were sold in April 2021. The manufacturer finished in the ninth rank in overall manufacturer monthly sales chart ahead of MG, Ford, Skoda, Toyota, Fiat, and Citroen, courtesy of recently launched compact SUV Nissan Magnite. It should also be noted that the brand only sells two models in the Indian market Magnite and Kicks. The Nissan Magnite competes against Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kiger, Honda WR-V, and Tata Nexon.

Last year, Nissan introduced Magnite with a base price of Rs 4.99 lakh ex-showroom, although currently, Nissan retails Magnite Rs 5.59 lakh for a base variant XE. Magnite offered in five variants XE, XL, XV, XV premium, and XV(O). The Nissan Magnite comes powered by two engine options – a 1.0 Litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which belts out 72 PS of maximum power and 96 Nm of peak torque. The second is a 1.0 Litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine, which develops 99 HP of power and 160 Nm of torque. The powertrain comes mated with a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox system and an optional CVT (Continuous variable transmission) automatic transmission system.
