Tata has launched its AMT version of its long launched most affordable car from its line-up the Tata Tiago XTA at a price tag of Rs 5.99 lakh. The XTA variant now becomes the cheapest automatic variant transmission that Tata has to offer, this variant also adds additional features to the normal XT variant and is priced below the XZA variant with a price difference of Rs 47,000.
As of now, the Tata Tiago is sold at a base price of Rs 4.85 lakh for the base XE variant and Rs 6.84 lakh for the feature rich top end variant. Over the XT variant, the XTA adds some additional feature like – ABS, steering mounted controls, power window, remote control central locking, dual airbags, Harman audio system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, rear parking sensor and LED digital instrumental screen. But the XTA misses out on some major feature provided in the XZA variant which are features like – a 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, fog lamps, height adjustable driver seats, electrically folding side view mirrors, and a rear wiper and defogger.
The powertrain remains the same in each variant, which is a 1.2 litre three cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine which is capable of producing upto 86PS of power and a max torque of 113Nm, this is the same engine also offered in the Tata Tigor and Tata Altroz, the only change here is the AMT gearbox which is a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The Tata Tiago scores a total of 4 stars in the NCAP crash test which also makes it the safest car to be offered in this price range. Talking about the rivals the Tata Tiago competes against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Ford Figo and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, however comparing the sales of the Swift and i10 Nios to the Tiago, the car seems to be left out.
