Tesla has finally entered the Indian lands with its office registration in the capital of Karnataka (Bengaluru).
Elon Musk the former richest man in the world and the owner of Tesla has always shown quite an interest in the Indian market, and finally has set up an office in Bengaluru as ‘Tesla Indian Motors and Energy Private Limited’.
When it comes to Electric vehicles the first thing that comes in our mind is the American company, Tesla, with its luxury electric vehicles covering all of the major countries. Earlier there have been many instances where the company hinted the entry to the Indian market but that was all there was to it. In the past few weeks, these speculations intensified with the conformation provided by the Minister of MSME sector Mr Nitin Gadkari. However, there was still a doubt in everyone’s mind that when will the company enter the market. But the wait wasn’t much for the Tesla lowers as the Company on 8th January 2021 officially registered their office in the capital of Karnataka, which was first reported by Tesla group India on Twitter.
The company’s office has been registered with the name of 3 directors namely Vaibhav Taneja, Venkatrangam Sreeram and David Jon Feinstein which will be leading the Indian Tesla branch. Amongst these 3 directors Mr Vaibhav Taneja was the Chief Accounting Officer at Tesla previously and now acting as a Director of the Indian Subsidiary of Tesla, the 2nd director Venkatrangam Sreeram doesn’t have any past relationship with the company but currently is a board member at Xenon Automotive India and Clearquote Technologies, the 3rd director David Jon Feinstein is currently the Global Senior Director at Tesla.
For the first and the only model that Tesla is going to launch in the Indian market will be its entry-level car Model 3 Sedan which will be costing around Rs 54-60 lakh after the import duty taxes. The car would be powered by a 60KW lithium-ion battery which will give a mileage of 500km on a single full charge.
