Toyota Kirloskar motors sales surges by 36% in Feb 2021

Toyota motors India has garnered massive sales growth of 36 percent last month in Feb 2021, year-on-year basis.

* Toyota Manages to sell 14,075 units last month

* Twelve months back in the same period it sold 10,352 units

* Toyota gets 5,500 units in OEM from Maruti Suzuki last month.

Toyota Kirloskar motor registered domestic cumulative sales of 14,075 units last month against 10,352 units in the same period last year, with an amazing year-on-year sales growth of 35.96 percent. The highest earner for the brand is the rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara brezza, urban cruiser. The brand posted total sales of 11,126 units in Jan 2021, with a month-on-month positive sales growth of 26.51 percent. Also, recently the rebadged version of the Maruti vehicles cross 50,000 marks, last month and the addition of urban cruiser the line-up only helps the sales volume to increase in a tremendous fashion.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited supplied 5,500 units of Vitara brezza and Baleno in OEM to Toyota motors for them to rebadge as urban cruisers and Glanza respectively. The Duo from Indo-Japanese manufacturer added a major portion to Toyota’s sales numbers in recent times; it’s gone on increasing exponentially. The Toyota urban cruiser powered with the same engine as the Maruti Suzuki Vitara brezza, a 1.5 Litre 4-cylinder K15B petrol engine, capable enough of producing a maximum power output of 104.7 PS and peak torque of 138 Nm. Urban Cruiser rebaged version of Vitara brezza

On the other hand, the Toyota Glanza rebadged version of Maruti Suzuki Baleno features the same engine as well, a 1.2 Litre petrol engine that develops 84 PS of maximum power and 113 Nm of peak torque. The 1.2 Litre Mild-hybrids generate 90 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. It costs Rs 7.19 lakhs for the base trim and Rs 9.10 lakhs for top-end trim (ex-showroom). In the recent reports, it is confirmed that Japanese automakers will be launching more rebadged versions of the outgoing vehicles, but the time frame for that is still unknown. Although, Toyota and Maruti are collaborating to be a new compact SUV EV platform and a mid-Size SUV, which directly rivals Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.
