ENGINE IN OFFERINGS


The second most important point to be looked at is the engine offerings in both venue and i20 trim line-up. The 3rd gen Hyundai i20 comes with three engine options, 1.2-liter Kappa petrol engine, 1.5-liter U2 CRDi diesel engine, and 1.0-liter turbo GDI engine. The petrol engine is capable of generating 83 Hp and 114 Nm of torque when mated with 5-speed manual transmission and when coupled with IVT it generates 88hp and 114Nm of torque. The diesel engine generates 100hp and 240Nm of torque when mated 6-speed manual transmission. The turbo unit generates 120hp and 171 Nm of torque and comes with two transmission option 7-speed DCT or 6-speed iMT.

FUEL ECONOMY


The final and the most important point for Indian buyers is the fuel economy provided by their vehicle, the 3rd gen Hyundai i20 claims ARAI mileage for MT petrol of 20.35 kmpl, petrol IVT of 19.65kmpl, diesel MT of 25.2 kmpl, turbo iMT of 20.25kmpl, and turbo DCT of 20.25kmpl.
The venue claims ARAI mileage for petrol MT is 17.52kmpl, diesel MT is 23.4kmpl, turbo MT is 18.2kmpl, turbo DCT is 18.15kmpl, and 17.8 kmpl for turbo iMT.
When compared fuel economy of both the engines the 3rd gen Hyundai i20 beats the Hyundai venue in every engine unit they offer. The petrol unit’s mileage is quite similar but for turbo units, i20 beats venue with a clear margin. But again, this is on paper report real performance and on-road mileage is still to come.

OTHER COMPARISON


Other than these points there isn’t a direct comparison between venue and i20 because one car comes in the category of hatchbacks and the Other in the SUV segment. Talking about safety 3rd gen Hyundai i20 gets 6-airbags, ESC, VSM, ESS, hill assist, tire pressure monitoring system, rear camera, and more, while the venue gets 6-airbags, VSM, hill assist, ESC, ABS with EBD, speed-sensing door locks, and more features.

The Hyundai venue and 3rd gen i20 are giving tough competition to other car manufacturers in their respective segments and getting the best sales figures for Hyundai motors India. As for now, the venue relies on performance and i20 relies on good looks, comfort, and great features to offer in the hatchback segment.
