Husqvarna E-Pilen electric motorcycle concept unveiled

Husqvarna has introduced the new electric motorcycle concept and join the electric vehicle bandwagon with a bike called E-Pilen. In September last year, the two-parent manufacturer Pierer mobility AG and Bajaj Auto has revealed the documentation presentation of launching the first new EV bike E-Pilen in the Indian market by 2022. The E-Pilen electric concept has a claimed riding range of 100 km in a single charge, and the EV belts out 10.9 PS of maximum power. Husqvarna has also revealed that the bike also comes with a swappable battery system that allows the bike to further extend the EV motorcycle’s utility.

The Swedish two-wheeler manufacturer hasn’t revealed more details about the bike, although it should be noted that the motorcycle is in its concept form. It was also confirmed by Pierer AG mobility and Bajaj Auto that the first product from the joint venture will hit the market by 2022, to strengthen their strategic cooperation in greener energy mobility. Along with E-Pilen, the brands are also making a fully electric bike by using a 4 KW electric motor.

The two companies also planning to develop a common 48-volt electric two-wheeler platform in the power range of 3 to 10 KW. Although, Bajaj Auto has already introduced a fully electric E-Scooter named Chetak electric in the Indian market. The Scooter is powered with an IP67 rated 3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, that delivers power to a 4 KW electric motor. Chetak Electric Scooter offered with two variants, Urbane, and premium. The former priced at Rs 1.43 lakh and the latter priced at Rs 1.45 lakh ex-showroom. While the E-Scooter comes with two riding modes Eco and Sport that provides a range of 85 Km and 95 Km respectively. As of now the Chetak EV rivals TVS iQube and Bangalore-based startup Ather 450X.
