Citroen is a French automotive company established in march 1919. In 2021, the company is under the control of automotive giant Stellantis which is now the parent company of 14 different brands including Fiat, Jeep, Peugeot and more. CItroen has a reputation for innovative technology and have launched many new technologies in the market. The front wheel drive that we see today, Citroen was the first company to bring this technology in the market. Therefore, they launched the first car having front-wheel drive with uni-body design way back in 1930s. They also were the first one to bring hydropneumatics self-levelling suspension, swivelling headlights and the revolutionary modern disc brakes in the market. Also, cars from this company has won many national and International Awards.

Citroen India : About Company and Line-up

Citroen India is the French automotive manufacturer and a subsidiary of Stellantis. Company has tied-up with CK Birla Group to manufacture and sell vehicles in Indian market. Hence, their cars will be manufactured in production facility of CK Birla in Tamil Nadu. However, they debuted their first car in April,2020 but entered in Indian market in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With this company’s establishment, this is going to be the third attempt by Groupe PSA to enter Indian market and maintain their name and reputation.

Citroen will be entering Indian market with their C5 Aircross SUV and its production has already started in July 2020 in CK Birla’s Tamil Nadu production facility. Currently launching its two variants, company is working on numbers of models and variants including electric vehicles. Moreover, the design and maunufacturing of these cars will take place specially according to Indian stimulations and demands. Keeping that in mind, C5 Aircross SUV is modified to provide more comfort and better handling on the all-weather Indian roads. This car will compete with the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, MG Gloster. We expect to see this vehicle on roads by March, 2021.
