Toyota Fortuner was the first car to be launched in the year 2021, not only the car got its 2021 mid-cycle facelift but also got a premium version of the Fortuner. But with this launch, the question arises, what will be the changes that the premium version will be carrying? And will those changes be worth spending some extra cash?
To answer the question ‘what is the difference between Toyota Fortuner 2021 and Fortuner Legender’ we will be assessing each and every aspect of the car.
Toyota Fortuner 2021 and Fortuner Legender Exterior and design
The most basic changes that these cars have from each other and the previous version of Fortuner are its exterior designing. When comparing to the ongoing Fortuner the Fortuner 2021 facelift gets a newly designed front bumper, sleeker headlamps and taillamps, redesigned grille, new vertical blacked-out housing for LED DRLs and 18-inch alloy wheels. However, the Legender is the premium version of the Fortuner so will have some additional exterior features and these include split quad-LED headlamps, new front grille with piano black accents, sequential turn indicators, new designed front and rear bumpers and an 18-inch multilayered alloy wheels.
The Fortuner facelift comes in 8 different colour scheme whereas the Legender only comes in 1 colour scheme which is the pearl white colour along with a contrasting black roof.
Toyota Fortuner 2021 and Fortuner Legender Interior
The interior doesn’t have any drastic changes but the most noticeable change from the ongoing version is the 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The Fortuner facelift comes in either all-black interior or an all-chamois interior, whereas the Legender only comes in 1 dual-tone black and maroon interior. For the feature department Legender packs quite an edge over the Fortuner facelift, providing wireless charging, rear USB charging port, ambient lighting, handsfree trunk open, an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Although, the Legender packs tiny bit more features than the facelift Fortuner but lacks in the sound department where the Legender gets a 6-speaker audio system whereas the Fortuner facelift top variant gets an 11-speaker JBL audio system.
Engine option and Pricing
Difference between Toyota Fortuner 2021 and Fortuner Legender in the engine department is not present, as both of these cars pack the same 2.8-litre engine producing 201bhp of power and 500Nm of torque. But the main difference here lies in the drive options where the facelift Fortuner comes in both 4×2 and 4×4 wheel drive option but the Legender only comes with a 4×2 wheel drive option which may be done due to its cost-cutting so the car won’t be reaching the 40-lakh mark.
The price of the Fortuner facelift varies from Rs 29.98 lakh for the 4×2 base variant to Rs 37.43 lakh for top 4×4 variant. And for the Legender which comes only in one 4×2 model that cost Rs 37.58 lakh. This price difference in the decked-out model of the Fortuner facelift and Legender may not seem much but if you compare it with the Fortuner facelift 4×2 model you will see a significant difference of Rs 2.74 lakhs, which for not many feature upgrades looks too much costly.
