The China-owned company MG has today announced the expansion of its flagship car, the MG Gloster in India with a top-end Savvy trim which will now also be available in a 7-seater option. With the addition of this trim the MG Gloster now comes in a total of 4 trims namely – Super, Smart, Sharp and the top-end Savvy trim, these trims are further available in both 6-seater and 7-seater options. The pricing of the newly added 7-seater Savvy trim has been kept identical to that of its 6-seater version and also packs all the same features with an exception of the middle row seats where the 6-seater version gets 2 captain seats while the 7-seater version gets a bench seat with 3 occupancies.
MG Gloster is also India’s first SUV to come with Level 1 Autonomous technology of the ADAS based safety and assistive features.
This full-size SUV derives power from its 2.0-litre diesel engine which can be obtained either with a single turbo or a twin-turbo option for which the former can generate a maximum power of up to 160 bhp and maximum torque up to 375 Nm while the latter is capable of generating maximum power of up to 215 bhp and maximum torque up to 480 Nm. Both these engines are comes mated with a standard 8-speed automatic transmission gearbox and in addition to it, the car can be obtained with either a 2WD or a 4WD option.
A few months back company also announced that the brand will be expanding its line-up with a new SUV which will be named MG Astor which is the petrol version of last year’s launched MG ZS EV. The MG Astor is said to be the next big thing for the company and will be priced much lower than its EV sibling however it will be interesting to see in which price segment does the company places this car as the MG Hector already holds the mid-size SUV segment.
