Homegrown manufacture Tata Motors India has a few months ago relaunched the nameplate of Safari in the Indian market, in its new generation back in Feb 2021. In the first month, the brand rolled out 100 units, and deliveries started in the same month of launch. Earlier, the SUV has been showcased in the 2019 Auto Expo named Tata Gravitas. While New generation tata safari can also be called a longer wheelbase version of the Tata harrier or 6- 7- seater version of the SUV. Now the brand has rolled out 10,000th units from the production line in Pune and it took only 5 months.
The Brand also revealed that the last 9,000th unit was dispatched in four months. Also, according to the brand, Tata safari is the most sold 6- 7- seater SUV in the Indian market, with a market share of 25.2 percent. The combined sales of Harrier and safari garnered a market share of 41.2 percent in India at High SUV space in Q1 of 2021. While last month the manufacturer rolls out 1,730 units as against 1,536 units sold back in May 2021 resulting in 13 percent positive sales growth compared on an MoM basis. The Safari rivals the likes of MG Hector and Hector Plus and recently launched the Korean SUV Alcazar, which is also being the biggest rival of SUV.
New generation Tata safari price ranges between Rs 14.99 lakh, which goes up to Rs 21.81 lakh ex-showroom. The safari underpins the Land Rover’s D8 Omega arc platform. As for performance tata safari comes with only a single engine option – a 2.0 Litre four-cylinder Kryotec oil burner. The powertrain belts out 167 HP of maximum power and 350 Nm of peak torque when paired with 6-speed manual gearbox and optional 6-speed torque converter. The SUV rides on an independent dual wishbone on the front and anti-roll bar suspension on the rear. On occasion brand president said,” safari takes forward the legacy of the brand’s new impact 2.0 platform”.
