Newly launched Hyundai i20 finished at the top of sales chart, followed by a tata’s safest hatchback in market Altroz.

The hatchback space is the most competitive segment in the Indian market after, Compact-SUV segment. Courtesy of new products arrival in the segment, tata altroz, and Toyota Glanza, which is not entirely new it’s a rebadged version of Maruti Suzuki Baleno. And Hyundai also launched their 3rd generation i20 in the market to tighten their grip in the premium hatchback segment market. Like all the other segments in this space, Maruti Suzuki Baleno continues to lead the segment with retailing 17,872 units last month as against 18,047 units in the same period of time last year Nov 2019, with 1% de-growth.

The fun fact is that Maruti Suzuki Baleno was the only vehicle in hatchback to register five-digit sales, followed by Hyundai’s new generation i20 register total of 9,095 units as against 10,446 units during the same month last year 2019, with 13% year-on-year de-growth. Tata Motors with Altroz entered the hatchback section, earlier this year. Its sales numbers are steadily increasing month-on-month. Tata Altroz finished at 3rd position with 6,260 units last month, its highest monthly sale yet. The altroz comes with a global 5-star NCAP rating and powered by a 1.5-liter diesel and 1.2-liter petrol engine, it’s the Indian market’s first model based on the ALFA platform.
The Toyota Glanza rebadged version of Maruti Suzuki Baleno finished at 4th position with, 2,428 units sold last month as against 2,313 in the corresponding year with 5% year-on-year positive growth. Followed by a Volkswagen polo finished at 5th position, registering 1,130 units last month as against 1,702 units in the corresponding year with 34% year-on-year negative growth. While Honda Jazz recorded a tremendous 86% positive sales growth, registering 633 units sold last month as against 341 units in the same period last year in Nov 2019.
