Renault Duster to get discontinued temporarily until next upgrade arrives

Renault Duster has been the oldest and amongst the most successful mid-size SUV in the Indian market, with severing the Indian audience for over a decade, Duster is also the company’s most successful car in the Indian market to date, however, the peak time of the car has long past as the car hasn’t received anything significant to compete in the most furious car segment, as of now the mid-size SUV segment is ruled by Hyundai Creta and the duster is nowhere near it.

Going by the reports Renault is producing the last batch of its Duster model which will soon be rolling out from the Chennai plant after which the model will be put on a temporary hold. The brand will be replacing the old gen Renault Duster with its new and improved version which already has been revealed in the global markets. And as going by the conversation between the Managing director of Renault India and ET Auto that although the car will be getting temporary discontinuation but there is no plan for the permanent discontinuation of the car and soon till September or October the brand might be announcing a big surprise for the audience.

The new-gen Renault Duster has already been revealed and launched in the UK market and with the temporary discontinuation of the Duster, the company most probably might be planning the production line for the change. Currently, Renault has no big names on its list which are making great sales in the Indian market and as most of the carmakers are switching towards the SUV segment the French carmaker Renault won’t be getting behind in this race to the top.

The current available Renault Duster comes with a 1.3-litre turbo diesel powertrain option which can produce a maximum power output of 150 PS and maximum torque of 250 Nm and will be retaining this powertrain in the coming update as well.
