Skoda India sales grow by 234% in July 2021 – thanks to Kushaq

Skoda hasn’t been amongst the top-selling car brands since its launch; however, this has been changed with the launch of the new Skoda Kushaq, a mid-sized SUV launched just a month back on 28th June 2021, has made history for the company as the car received booking over 6,000 in just a week making it the biggest success for the company. Due to this success, Skoda India recorded an overall sales growth of over 234% in July 2021 compared to the sale of July 2020, while the growth percentage grew even more in terms of MoM basis which was 320%.

In terms of real numbers, Skoda managed to sell over 3,000 units in July 2021 while the sales stood at only 922 units in July 2020 and 734 units in June 2021. Although, the car rivals some of the biggest SUV competitors in the market, the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, but the wants the car to pave its own segment rather than facing some big rivals. One of the reasons the company says so is due to the car being a bit overpriced as compared to its rivals, with the actual ex-showroom price starting at Rs. 10 lakhs.

The Skoda Kushaq is available in a total of three variants namely Active, Ambition and Style and also in five different colour options Tornado Red Metallic, Carbon Steel Metallic, Honey Orange Metallic, Candy White and Brilliant Silver.

As for the powertrain, the car is available in two engine options which are the 1.0-litre engine which can produce up to a maximum power of 113 hp while generating a maximum torque up to 178 Nm and the 1.5-litre TSI engine which can generate up to 148 hp of power and 250 Nm of peak torque.
