With the trend of the SUVs powering up each week most of the other segments have seen a sharp fall every other month especially the sedan segment. And this trend hasn’t gone unnoticed by every manufacturer as since the start of the year most of the launches have been of SUVs be it an upgrade or a new model. This growth in the segment can clearly be noticed by the sales figures portrayed by the segment. The SUV segment managed to make a sale of 2,78,031 units in this year’s H1 period if taking into consideration the top 5 selling SUVs, compared to the sale of 1,39,704 units in H1 2020, which translates to YoY growth of 99 per cent. The best-selling car of H1 2021 is the obviously most popular SUV of each month, the Hyundai Creta which managed to sell a total of 67,283 units in H1 2021 against the sale of 24,725 units in H1 2020, translating to YoY growth of 172%. Next is the best-selling Maruti Suzuki SUV and the 1st runner up The Maruti Suzuki Brezza which managed to make a sale of 60,183 units this H1 compared to that of 27,627 units in H1 2020.
The Hyundai Venue managed to sell a total of 54,675 units compared to that of 28,552 units last year. Kia Seltos also managed to amaze with the same of 49,643 units against the sale of 45,215 translating to YoY growth of only 10%. And at number 5 position we have the safest car Tata Nexon Venue managed to sell a total of 46,247 units compared to that of 13,585 units last year, translating to YoY growth of 240%.
