Top 5 cars that discontinued in India – Last five years

Over the years many car manufacturers have discontinued many new and old models from their line-up. Some cars are good to be discontinued, some due to poor sales, some due to management decisions, and some due to new generation model. While some of the cars left us with an impact on the Indian buyers. So, here we put together some of the Top 5 cars that discontinued in India in, last five years: –

  • Toyota Corolla Altis

Toyota Corolla may be the highest selling model for the brand in the international market and the oldest Toyota sedan, but in the Indian market, it doesn’t get much as it gets in the international market. Corolla was introduced in India back in 2003, and it becomes the Corolla Altis in 2008. Corolla Altis was discontinued last year in April 2020, due to the low sales performance and high price band. But by far Corolla was one of the best sedans ever go on sale.

  • Maruti Suzuki Gypsy

Maruti Suzuki India launched gypsy way back in 1985, and since then the vehicle is dominating and continues to produce good sales figures for the brand. The vehicle enjoyed an offbeat-like following among auto enthusiasts and off-roader lovers. In March 2019, due to new safety norms, Indo-Japanese manufacturer has to discontinues Gypsy. While last year the production of Gypsy has started again, following the special order place by the Indian Army.

  • Honda civic

Honda introduced the Civic back in July 2006, but in August 2012 the Japanese manufacture discontinued the civic. Interestingly, the manufacture re-introduced the Civic in its new avatar in March 2019 but wasn’t gets the attraction like the previous generation gets, also many customers were upset about the fact that the sedan doesn’t offer Manual petrol. IN December 2020, due to the shut down of the production plant in Gautam Budh Nagar Greater Noida, the civic was discontinued.

  • Maruti Suzuki Ritz

Not all Maruti Suzuki cars have gain popularity and liked by customers, and ritz was among them. Maruti introduced the ritz back in May 2009, the vehicle is affordable, spacious, and easy to run in any condition. However, the vehicle never gets the expected sales performance as it is hoped by the manufacturer. It was discontinued in February 2017, with the replacement of Maruti’s new edition with Nexa Ignis, which is performing well and accepted by customers.

  • Maruti Alto K10

Maruti Suzuki introduced Alto K10 back in 2010, as a new edition to the best-selling nameplate Alto, courtesy of more affordability and ease of ownership. The Alto K10 discontinued in April 2020, as a replacement the brand introduced their first Micro-SUV S-Presso in the Indian market, which is getting some decent sales numbers for the brand.
