Some manufacturer already introduced their first electric car, and many others are slowly joining the electrification pace.   • Tata Altroz EV

The homegrown manufacturer tata motors are planning to expand its electric lineup in India with its new electric powertrain coupled with premium hatchback Altroz. The Altroz EV was first showcased back in the 2019 Geneva motor show, and then at Auto Expo 2020. The specification hasn’t been revealed for the vehicle but it is expected to power with the same electric motor as offered in the tata Nexon EV and will have between 250km to 300km.

The UV specialists Mahindra and Mahindra first showcased the electric version of its entry-level SUV named eKUV100 last year at the 2020 Auto Expo. The manufacture was originally going to priced eKUV100 at Rs 8.25 lakh, inclusive of FAME II subsidies and we expect that the original launch price will be higher than the predicted one. The eKUV100 will draws power from a 15.9 kWh battery pack, which is capable of delivering the claimed driving range of 147 Km.

Mahindra also showcased the concept version of an electric motor-based compact SUV eXUV300 last year at Auto Expo 2020. The exact specifications for the vehicle are not yet revealed, but the manufacturer previously stated that the production version of eXUV300 will offer a driving range of 370 Km. Upon, launch the EV will compete against Tata Nexon EV and MG ZS EV.

The South Korean manufacturer Hyundai Groupe recently launched the facelift version of the Kona EV in the international market. For the Indian market, the vehicle is scheduled to launch in late 2021. The electric facelift hasn’t gained many changes as compared to the ongoing model. For the European market, the facelift version gets a standard 10.25-inch infotainment system along with ventilated seats front and rear and much more. It is offered in two variants the base variant has a claimed range of 304 Km, and the higher variant gets a bigger battery and a claimed driving range of 483 Km.

The American electric car manufacturer Tesla finally set to launch its first vehicle in the Indian market after so long years of wait. Recently, the manufacture has registered the research and development center in Bengaluru and sets to launch the Model 3 as the first offering in the Indian market. As for the international market the Model 3 offered in three different variants – 50 KWh battery, 54 KWh, and 74 kWh battery pack, offers a driving range of 354Km, 423Km, and 568km tested by EPA respectively. Although, the EV will be brought in India through complete import that further makes its expected price range starting from Rs 55 lakh ex-showroom, Pan India.
